FLO'S REVIEW

On Broken Wings by Chanel Cleeton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 **easy** STARS

Not going to lie, I was scared shitless going into this book. That’s usually the case for me when characters I already love to pieces get their own book. You never know if the author will live up to your own expectations, or if your favourite character ends up butchered. Well, I’m happy to report Chanel Cleeton delivered, and boy did she knock it out of the park. I loved this book, I loved Easy’s story and I loved him even more with Dani.

A perfect book to start the year off.

“I could drop a bomb without breaking a sweat, had been to war, nearly died more times than I could count, but she was the scariest thing I’d ever faced, my feelings for her sending me into a spin.”

For those of you who haven’t read the Wild Aces series--firstly, what are you waiting for--secondly, this might be a spoiler, so please stop reading..... On Broken Wings is the third installment in the series and it tells the epic story of Easy and Dani. Alex ‘Easy’ Rogers is a F-16 fighter pilot and Dani Peterson is his dead friend’s widow. Easy has been in love with Dani since he first met her, while she was happily married to his fellow fighter pilot. He never acted on his feelings, but became friends with Dani regardless. During a lot of hard times in Dani’s life he was there for her--as a friend. After her husband’s death things between them begin to change in a lot of ways.

“I’m happiest with my feet planted firmly on the ground. But my heart—
It flies.”

I have to say, I am throughly impressed how the author developed the relationship between them. The slow build was on point. Dani and Easy were heart breaking together, at times a lot of fun and so damn endearing. I fell in love with Easy all over again and I’m kind of sad it’s over. I really adored this series and all the characters in it. I’m also happy to say some of my faves from the first two books were around to catch up with. All in all, it was just a well rounded, beautiful done love story. Very respectful of the past, not overly dramatic or rushed--just perfect. And now that I finished the Wild Aces series I can happily say I can’t wait to read some more books by Chanel Cleeton.

That's all. Thank you for your time.
